! We are going to the sickles of the Duratón river!
This time we are going to Segovia to visit the Natural Park of the Hoces del Río Duratón which is located in the northeast of this province, downstream from the town of Sepúlveda. In this area, the river has been embedded in a deep canyon that, in some places, reaches more than 100 meters of unevenness. To the interest and beauty of the landscape we must add the great archaeological and historical wealth that this gorge holds inside. Couples of griffon vultures nest on the high rocky cliffs, accompanied by a good number of Egyptian vultures, golden eagles and peregrine falcons.
The natural values of the area are seasoned, as an added value, both historically and artistically, by the Romanesque hermitage of San Frutos, the caves with engravings from the Bronze Age and the architectural ensemble of Sepúlveda.
It should be remembered that it is an area that we will not be able to visit from January to July because it is a breeding season.
